Privacy Policy

AlbumLove ("we", "our", or "the app") is a music collection and social app. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use the AlbumLove app and related services.

1. Data We Collect

We collect the following information:

Account data: Email address, password (stored securely), and when you choose to provide them: display name and profile picture (avatar).
Profile data: Username, friend code (used to connect with other users), and preferences you set in the app.
Content you create: Your music collection (albums and lists), which albums you share to your feed, and your interactions (e.g. likes on friends' posts).
Social data: Friendships and friend requests, so we can show you your friends' activity in the feed.
Device data: Device token for push notifications (so we can send you notifications when friends share albums or when we have updates). We do not use this for advertising or cross-app tracking.
Usage data: Settings such as notification frequency and preferred streaming service, stored on your device and, where relevant, on our servers to provide the service.

2. How We Use Your Data

We use your data to:

Create and manage your account and authenticate you.
Provide the app's features: your collection, lists, feed, and friend connections.
Send you push notifications (e.g. when friends share albums), if you have allowed notifications.
Improve the app and fix issues (e.g. error reports or diagnostics if you have agreed to share them).

We do not sell your personal data. We do not use your data for third-party advertising or cross-app tracking.

3. Data Sharing and Third Parties

Your data is stored and processed with the help of:

Supabase (database and authentication), which may process data in the European Union or other regions. See Supabase's privacy policy.
Apple (App Store, push notifications, and device services). Use of the app is subject to Apple's Privacy Policy.

Other users can see your profile (e.g. username, avatar) and the content you choose to share (e.g. albums in your feed). We do not share your email address with other users.

4. Data Retention

We retain your account and content data for as long as your account is active. If you request account deletion, we will delete or anonymise your personal data within a reasonable period (e.g. within 14 days) as described in the app, except where we must keep data for legal or safety reasons.

5. Your Rights and Account Deletion

You can:

Access and update your profile and preferences in the app.
Sign out at any time from Settings.
Request deletion of your account and associated data via the "Delete account" option in the app (Settings → Privacy). This opens an email to us; we will process your request within the timeframe stated in the app (e.g. 14 days).

6. Security

We use industry-standard measures (including encryption and secure authentication) to protect your data. Passwords are hashed; we do not store plain-text passwords.

7. Children

AlbumLove is not directed at children under 13 (or the applicable age in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it.

8. International Transfers

Your data may be processed in the European Union or other countries where our service providers operate. We ensure appropriate safeguards (e.g. standard contractual clauses or adequacy decisions) where required by law.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version at this URL and, where required, notify you in the app or by email. The "Last updated" date at the top indicates when the policy was last revised.
